have to say about our classes:
Advanced Chi Kung / Ba Gua Student:
"It's soft, it's complete…it focuses on your health and self defense. I have seen the health benefits: My weight went down, my cholesterol went down. All in all it's gotten me in touch with my body.
This is something I can see myself continuing at age 80 or 90 -- until I drop
," (Roy Villanueva of Chesapeake)Student since 1998
Intermediate Ba Gua student:
"A lot of other martial arts depend on physical strength so you have to start as a child. This is different: it depends on circular motion, creating a whip action. You can start at any age," (Dr. Arthur Nido of Virginia Beach). Member since November 2003, started when he was 60 years old.
Basic Membership Kung Fu Student:
"Target practice is my one of my favorite parts of the kung fu basics class. Hitting a target isn't just swinging your fist; it takes practice and awesome instructors . I learn something new at every class and there's never a boring or dull moment. I've never felt healthier. With a little motivation
anyone, at any age can do it"
. (Ann Bailey of Newport News, VA)
Advanced T'ai Chi student
"I have a memory of watching dozens of people outside their homes practicing, in unison, a slow moving martial art. Years later I learned the art was called T'ai Chi but could never find an instructor to learn it from. Instead, I devoted years of study in both Okinawan and Japanese hard styles. For nearly 30 years, I still looked for an opportunity to learn this particular Chinese art.
I was surprised to learn that this art was being taught literally minutes away from my front doorstep! Even more surprising was discovering that T'ai Chi is not just some type of slow moving meditation but a complete martial art of and within itself. I have found the instructors here very patient and make learning an enjoyable experience. I feel very honored and privileged to learn from
authentic and helpful instructors
." (Steve Polly of Yorktown, VA) member since Nov. 2005
Lil' Lions Kung Fu student:
"I am so glad that I don't do gymnastics or dance anymore - this is so much better!" (Madeline K. of Newport News)
Youth Kung Fu -
"I have learned more about how to train safely for authentic martial art weapons from Sifu Buckman and Simo Buckman than I could have ever gotten any where else, except for maybe China!" (2003 National USWU Champion, Maxwell Thompson, Virginia Beach) Now serving in our armed forces.
